Reference: Part of Trifari's spring 1948 'Renaissance' collection, based on earlier (mostly 1941) patented designs, described in Women's Wear Daily, 16 Jan 1948, p 33; advertised with the rest of the series, for sale at Lester's Smart Shop, price $17.50 plus tax, in The [Bryan TX] Eagle, 3 May 1948, p 6; click thumbnail above to view advertisement. Patent is reproduced below (scroll down); designer A Philippe, filed Jan, granted July 1946; production then would have been in sterling - this is from the 1948 collection, stamped with the still valid (3 1/2 year term) patent.
