Reference: Featured for sale at Saks Fifth Ave, price $17.50 plus tax, in the New York Herald Tribune, 27 Mar 1948, p 11; click thumbnail above to view advertisement. Part of Trifari's Spring 1948 'Renaissance' series, described in Womens Wear Daily, 16 Jan 1948, p 33, 'traditional four leaf clovers, heart and clef designs in combinations of amethyst and pale sapphire, sapphire and topaz, crystal moonstones and rhinestones'. This re-visited several 1941 patent designs originally produced in rhodium and enamel, now using gold plated Trifanium and pastel stones or moonstones. The original patent (whose 3 1/2 year term had expired in Sept 1944) is reproduced below (scroll down); designer A Philippe, applied for Feb, granted March 1941; and see Brunialti, American Costume Jewelry - Art and Industry (2008) Vol 2, p. 107.
Condition: Excellent, apart from an old pin back repair at the hinge end
