Reference: Design, construction, and non-use of Sterling date this to 1941-42. Schiffer, Fun Jewelry, p 155, this owl (missing its feet and perch) signed Sandor. The construction of the Sandor Mermaid SSS1315 and Starfish Man SSS1187 are exactly similar (with both signed only with plaques attached to the same clip as here). Women's Wear Daily, 6 Feb 1942, p 16, described Sandor's spring collection - 'an undersea group of lucite and rhinestone designs set in engraved gold finished metal.
