Reference: The design, a pin, was originally produced by Carnegie in 1968, and called a 'warrior', 'medicine man' or a 'tiki' in advertisements - eg in the Pittsburgh Press, 25 July 1968, p 29; click thumbnail above to view advertisement. Baker, 50 years of Collectible Fashion Jewelry, p. 117; A. Gordon, 20th Century Costume Jewelry, p. 179. The designer Kenneth J Lane ran Carnegie in 1963-64, and (as in other cases) later produced his design under his own signature. Mark dates this to the 1980s or later.
