Reference: Brunialti, American Costume Jewelry - Art and Industry (2008) Vol 1, p. 63, dated 1945, other pieces in an 'extraordinary series of brooches' using these stones and design concept. The collection was described in Women's Wear Daily, 19 Jan 1945, p 14: 'there is a nice, subtle touch of humor in some of these pieces, such as the dachshund with a sleek body made entirely of square-cut stones'
Condition: Very good - wear to gold vermeil, and a small chip on the back of one stone
