Reference: Brunialti, Tribute to America, pp. 172, 173, 5 stars, unsigned version, designer and manufacturer unknown, advertised in Glamour, July 1940. The Brunialtis communicate 'in the Glamour July 1940 Ad that we quote and partially reproduce in Tribute, the clown is pictured along with the Boucher 'Punchinello'' (Tribute, pp. 145-146). Our signed MB moveable clown secures the identification of this piece as Marcel Boucher's, and date of 1940. Brunialti writes (p. 25) "Marcel Boucher was an inspired and refined designer.. The best of his productions were the collections of 1940, 1941 and 1942 which include extraordinary items made with enamel and/or rhinestones, amongst them are 'moveable' [pieces] from 1940, the 1940-41 birds, the animal range, and also plant and flower subjects of the same years"
